Asceticism
Asceticism, works from a significant Convent library, originally printed in the 16th-19th centuries.
Newly published as ebooks.
The term “asceticism” has a variety of interpretations, although today “asceticism” and “ascetic” can be used synonymously. Here, the term should also remain focused on the context of spirituality, especially on a purposeful life directed toward God; we have already written a lot about this under “Spirituality.”
In the ascetic life, self-discipline means the adequate way of life, which can even go as far as self-denial. One speaks – probably more so with men – of an ascetic body or an ascetic facial expression. Whether the mass urban marathons of today could be classified under this term is something we are wondering, definitively it’s a kind of community. However, we know that we didn’t understand this term in the same way when we published “asceticism” ebooks.. And it’s also conceivable that someone in their ascetic lifestyle is waiting for a mystical event—or perhaps even chose such a lifestyle for that reason.
But after such ‘intellectual excursions’ into the contemporary, let’s return to asceticism in the sense understood here of a Nun’s convent library, or rather, its title users.
Distinguishing between mysticism and asceticism was sometimes difficult for us because the original volumes in the Nun’s convent library were sometimes ‘physically’ bound together with several very different texts. The reasons for such a “game of hide-and-seek” could have been very diverse, we can only guess.
Here is our introduction to how we present here some texts in ENGLISH LANGUAGE:
Most of our CONVENT LIBRARY eBooks titles (including texts in the electronic Bibliographic records in International University Library Standards) are in German Language, including names of collections, sets and subsets etc.
Therefore – when we think it makes sense – we leave such related texts and information in its German Language from the original printed works of the 16th – 19th Centuries.
So, let’s continue with German Language and quantities for this Asceticm collection:
