Socialism, Economical Politics
Socialism, Economical Politics,
Works originally written in the 18th, 19th, & early 20th centuries
New publications as non-print media.
These titles on social history – primarily in Germany – can be also described as the history of socialism. The economic and social history titles address the development of capitalism with a focus on large-scale industry, the war economy, concentration, cartels, and socialization.
The implementation of Karl Marx’s ideas can be easily traced and researched using our title collections. These often consist of “physical” publications from regional and local associations, local workers’ secretariats, local cooperatives, or splinter groups. The content also includes “physical” small brochures or non-conventional publications, as well as editions from smaller publishers.
These original local and regional publications facilitate the understanding of these transformations on the ground, something that often surprises us. Depending on one’s politically/socially differentiated mental orientation, one might then either respond logically with something like ‘Thank God, it’s over,’ or ‘the implementation just wasn’t good enough, so we must try again, but this time properly.’
For whatever reason, such ‘physical’ source materials for our tiles were generally not collected, catalogued, or discarded in public libraries.
It’s also noteworthy that the ‘physical’ works came originally from a private “socialist” library and survived the Nazi era of World War II unscathed.
Additionally, the originals are highly endangered (paper deterioration), so our media are essentially a rare opportunity – still – to access this content.
The titles are indexed according to a variety of subject-specific criteria, for example, they are summarized in place indexes (many local or regional organizations), subject indexes, and other indexes, which are also subdivided according to corporations or authors.
We have therefore found these materials to be important in terms of content preservation and have therefore re-created our Non-Print publications as follows:
