Historic Socialism

Historical Socialism and Social History,

Works originally written in the 18th, 19th & early 20th centuries

Our decision to republish these works as non-print  editions titled “Historical Socialism and Social History of the 18th to Early 20th Centuries” is not motivated by our political beliefs or our goals. Instead, we recognize that socialism, like Christianity, nationalism, philosophy, science, economics, capitalism etc., and the pursuit of freedom, has played a significant role throughout history.

Our collection features works on socialist theory, German labour movement, and labour movements in Russia and France, labourer’s cultural movements, and women’s movements, trade unions, cooperatives, political parties.

The included titles shed light on Germany’s political evolution during the 19th and early 20th centuries, with coverage of reforms and industrialization. Particularly valuable in our collections are historical documents that highlight the experiences of labourers, including involvements of women in Proletarian movements. These documents comprise handbooks, letters, and diaries from working-class individuals.

These comprehensive collections provides extensive insights into the development and diversity of such movements that have worked toward social justice, improved working conditions, and equality. We have chosen to preserve this material in non-print media for both today users and future generations. Also because  the physical originals face ongoing risks—mainly because they were seldom archived in libraries and – if so – their poor-quality paper and aggressive ink make them especially vulnerable to deterioration.

Introduction: In this page, these English texts are for reference; most of the titles mentioned here are in German. Foreign titles appear as German translations.
